full moon in aquarius- finding your center amidst the storms (7/23/21)

by | Jul 19, 2021 | Lunar Insight

the full moon at 1’26 aqua is exact on friday july 23rd, 2021 at 7:37pm- marking the midway point of the current lunar cycle we are in that began with the new moon in cancer on july 9th. with cancer and aquarius activated in this lunar cycle we would do well to focus on how we express and feel our emotions. do we collapse into them and drown? do we disconnect from them, disassociate and come from the head?

this is the first of two aquarius full moons- the next one will be an astrological blue moon. so we have two full moons illuminating the Aquarius part of the sky and our wherever that falls in our charts (listen to horoscopes for more info). this can magnify collective issues, community care and where we need change- but it can also bring to Light what is blocking our personal and planetary evolution.

with the rulers of this full moon (and the next) being saturn and uranus- the saturn/uranus square is in the spotlight! change and resistance to change are battling each other. learning to discern baby from bathwater is key. keep in mind we are in a powerful lunar cycle as the new moon triggered pluto/eris and the full moon is widely conjunct saturn and pluto- so if you find yourself confronting fears, dogma, rigidity and toppling old patriarchal paradigms you are right in tune with the energies present!!!

the moon is out of bounds and conjunct altair- the star that was activated by the jupiter/saturn conjunction in december 2020. this full moon brings that new cycle to Light- revealing where we are at with the collective and personal changes and evolution but also what is blocking it, holding it back and keeping us stuck.

altair is often thought of as the eagle but if you look into the older meanings of the star name it either means golden eagle or vulture. i have always felt the golden eagle was a more feminine eagle and in egypt the vulture is the symbol of the Divine Mother (and this lunar cycle began with a new moon in cancer the sign of the Mother)- so there are deeply feminine currents here. i really believe in order to get us out of this patriarchal mess we are in on the planet we need women to lead. as the dalia lama said ‘the world will be saved by the western woman’.

we also have the moon conjunct icarus- an asteroid that is about ‘escape that are careless of consequences’ and a ‘desire to get out of here’ and ‘get away from restrictions’ (martha lang wescott). in truth shadow aquarius can do that- we prefer to get transcendent and avoid the murky shadow. we want to ascend, not come fully down and in particularly if means we have to see and face our trauma, wounds and shadow. with the contemporary ruler of aquarius being uranus in taurus- we can use this energy to have an embodiment revolution OR we can use it to escape the body and deny earthly reality. (for more on my article about this click here- https://divineharmony.com/astrology-blog/uranus-in-taurus-the-embodiment-revolution/)

we also have phaethon on the north node opposite juno on the south node. phaethon speaks to recklessness, being out of control and having a hard time finding the middle of the road. juno’s involvement brings into focus relationships, partnerships and commitments that are karmic and keeping us stuck. the nodal axis right now can be summed up like this: are you more committed to being right (south node in sagittarius) than you are to the Truth? the north node in gemini reminds us we need to be teachable and open minded. coming from a place of ‘i know everything, i am right you are wrong’ is a recipe for disaster right now- and it will most certainly keep one stuck in their karma! (personally also collectively)

the sabian symbol for the full moon degree is interesting ‘an unexpected thunderstorm’. being that i am in oregon where fires start due to lightning strikes- this degree comes close to home. dane rudhyar says this degreee is about ’the need to develop inner security which will enable us to meet unexpected crises’. to be honest i feel this one of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS we can cultivate right now and it’s why i am so committed to my own inner work and shadow work and also sharing what i know with others. as we move towards the USA’s pluto return- we cannot expect things to be placid and easy. being able to find your center amidst the storm and ground down and be a lighthouse for others during crises is SO KEY. (for more on pluto return read my article here- https://divineharmony.com/astrology-blog/usa-pluto-return-transformation-of-a-nation-2022/

dane rudhyar goes on to say “ this (degree) stresses the fact that nature may reduce to impermanence the seemingly most permanent endeavors and constructive activities of men…all human institutions and their achievements can be washed away, even in their day of great glory. this is NATURE’S CHALLENGE.”

in light of climate change this degree is important. i would like to point out that climate change is about many factors- particularly and most importantly the toxins we dump into our air, water and food that is changing the integrity of the eco system. so gmo’s, nuclear waste, cloud seeding/solar engineering. the hubris of humanity to think we can dump chemicals and heavy metals into a delicate eco system and not cause harm is amazing to me!!! please be aware some big companies touting climate change think the answer to climate change is to block the sun by spraying aersol’s in the sky (google solar engineering, jeff bezos) and other ridiculous things that do not have the wisdom and foresight to understand how all is connected and how that can create more issues.

can we weather “unexpected thunderstorms”? well the star sparks degree for this full moon tells us just what to do so we can weather the storms…we need to become “one with the earth and with the light which is there at certain places for those who can perceive inwardly.” and we need to allow “this earth light (to) so closely accompan(y) all of (our) journey that (we) really never distance from (our) underlying sense of the whole of life and what it asks through (us) each day, every night.”

we are “on one of those assignments where (we) must not forget, yet (we) must go amongst those who do, lose (ourselves) amongst them, and carry the slender thread of (our) real allegiance inside where it counts.”

thank you for being on this journey with me! we are all just walking each other home (as ram dass said).

blessings…

STAR SPARKS
by ellias lonsdale

Aquarius 2 A woman strolling in a garden. She is unaware she is being watched by elves

Her nature is leisurely, contemplative, laid back. She of course imagines and conceives that these qualities are simply her own by temperament, by disposition. Hardly is it likely that the deeper truth of her nature will reveal itself to her in the normal course of events.
Yet what is truly at work in her is an affinity with the subtle elemental realms and with those who sense those spirit enclaves in the earth. For she is actually at one with the earth and with the light which is there at certain places for those who can perceive inwardly. And this earth light so closely accompanies all of her journey that she really never distances from her underlying sense of the whole of life and what it asks through her each day, every night.
This makes it hard to take on mechanical routine and set behaviors. The soul is hungry to bring the world to life, rather than to fit life to mental schemes. And this impulse is overwhelmingly powerful. It comes from a bottomless well of remembrance and dedication.
Yet she is called upon to put all of this onto the inside and to bear herself steadily through the outer world on the outer world’s terms. For what she has to bring will have it’s magical relevance when nobody is looking for anything special to be happening.
She is on one of those assignments where you must not forget, yet you must go amongst those who do, lose yourself amongst them, and carry the slender thread of your real allegiance inside where it counts. The art of such a way of life is poignant. Everything depends upon discovering how to get deeper inside and tap the riches for the sake of the whole.

SABIAN SYMBOL
by dane rudhyar

PHASE 302 (AQUARIUS 2°): AN UNEXPECTED THUNDERSTORM.

KEYNOTE: The need to develop the inner security which will enable us to meet unexpected crises. OMG CLIMATE CHANGE

An interesting connection can be made between the symbols for Taurus 1° and 2° — “A clear mountain stream” and “An electrical storm” — and those for Aquarius 1° and 2°, two hundred and seventy degrees apart (a “waning” square, in terms of a cycle of relationship such as the lunation cycle). In the first case we deal with energies or activities that can be related to the natural development of the individual. But here we are primarily concerned with social, collective processes and the function of the individual within them. The symbol itself — “An unexpected thunderstorm” — could be given a very positive meaning in an arid environment, but the emphasis on “unexpected” tends to accent the sudden and dangerous character of the event. Such a thunderstorm in a region of dry hills can cause a devastating flood. At any rate, it refers to an event for which one is not prepared — a menace to men’s works.

Seen as a second stage symbol — thus in contrast to the preceding one — this scene stresses the fact that nature may reduce to impermanence the seemingly most permanent endeavors and constructive activities of men. Under a downpour of rain, adobe brick can return to mud. All human institutions and their achievements can be washed away, even in their day of great glory. “Dust you were, dust you must become.” This is NATURE’S CHALLENGE.
