the solar eclipse in taurus will be exact today, thursday may 9th at 5:28pm PDT. this commences a new lunar cycle but is energetically still tied in with the previous one due to the fact that we are in a triple eclipse portal right now. on april 25th we had a lunar eclipse in scorpio, today there is a solar eclipse in taurus and on may 24th there will be another lunar eclipse in sagittarius. typically eclipses come in pairs, but rarely they will come 3 in row like they are doing right now. when 3 eclipses occur back to back the intensity is amplified- as i am sure all who are reading this right now can attest to (including me!).
typically full moons are about endings, climax or crisis while new moons are about new beginnings, but during eclipse portals it is hard to tell which way is up and which way is down. during eclipses there are usually doors opening and closing at the same time- so the best thing to do is learn to navigate the dark corridors and TRUST.
this new moon solar eclipse in taurus is loaded. it is conjunct mercury, mars, pallas athena and the south node. with mercury and mars aligned the mind and the will energy are being focused. with asteroid Goddess pallas athena involved we have more mental energy added to the mix. the key to this eclipse is the fact that it is conjunct the south node. new moons are new beginnings, but the south node is about the karmic past. with the eclipse conjunct the south node there is a need to really face old karmic patterns, attitudes, thought patterns and ways of being that don’t serve and in fact may even hold us back from the evolution and growth that we seek. with mercury also on the south node we need to watch our mental habits and with mars on the south node we have to watch our ego energies and anger.
with all of this configuration playing out in taurus the embodied experience is a focus! i have heard of many people- myself included- going through health issues right now. the Universe is reminding us of our existence and reminding us of what we need to do to take care of our bodies right now- please listen! in addition this eclipse being in taurus is forcing us to look at our attachments, needs, desires and even perhaps our entitlement. taurus likes nice things and can sometimes have a ‘everyone should give it to me’ attitude. taurus is a very luxurious, indulgent sign but when the south node is a focus we need to see where we can overdo that part of the taurean nature and where it can keep us stuck in the physical/mundane at the expense of the spiritual/mystical.
the north node is the point where our evolution and growth lies and currently the north node is in scorpio. taurus is about form while scorpio is about trans-form-ation. in taurus we hold onto things and say I HAVE while in scorpio we let go of things and say I RELEASE (scorpio also says I DESIRE). it is very interesting to have saturn also in scorpio, because both saturn and the north node point to where our hard work is- the work that takes us to our edge and pushes us over, leaving us to learn how to fly on the way down. saturn is widely conjunct the north node right now (the exact conjunction will be 9/16/13) and with these two in the same sign and forming an alignment we can easily say the karmic lessons and opportunities for mastery are getting hotter by the minute! the area of scorpio in your chart is where the evolutionary pull is, while the area where taurus is in your chart is where the karmic pull to the past is playing out. for more info check your weekly horoscopes and monthly horoscopes post on my site.
this push pull between taurus and scorpio, body and Soul, form and releasing of form is quite the yo-yo ride. you may find yourself being confronted with your deepest fears. you may also find that things (people/places/things) you had deep attachments to are going away or being taken away. if this is true for you know that it is very likely that those things served as your karmic ball and chain. however pretty they were, they were not helping you move forward. this is a very deep time and honestly it’s one of the most intense eclipses i have experienced in a while! having all those saturn oppositions leading up to this eclipse probably had something to do with it ;)
today is a great day to align your intentions and get clear and grounded. get clear on what you want to RELEASE as well as what you want to call in. be ruthlessly honest with yourself about what you are ready to let go of. this eclipse is potent and it can help you do just that! intention is everything.
