Full Moon in Leo- Ego as servant, Spirit as Master (1/25/24)

by | Jan 25, 2024 | Lunar Insight

The Full Moon at 5’15 Leo is exact on Thursday January 25th at 12:54pm EST- marking the midway point of the current Lunar Cycle we are in that began with the New Moon in Capricorn on 1/11. That New Moon was widely conjunct Pluto at the Karmic Completion degree exposing all the shadows of patriarchal consciousness that need to be purge, released or transformed and square Eris the Goddess of Activism and Disruption who pulls back the veil to reveal Truth- making this quite the interestingly Lunar Cycle we are in.

This Full Moon magnifies the ingress of Pluto into Aquarius that happened on 1/20- as the Full Moon is opposite the waning Sun Pluto conjunction. The Sun and Pluto were conjunct the morning of 1/20 at 29’59 Capricorn- the last Sun/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn in our lives. The next one in 2025 will be in Aquarius- where Pluto is moving for good end of the year (11/19). So we are in this in between space right between the completion of the old and the beginning of the new. It is as though we are walking through a turnstile- not quite fully out of the old spaces, not quite fully in the new spaces but in betwixt and between.

This Full moon in Leo can bring things to a head, climax or crisis points regarding our creativity, passions and romantic relationships- as well as in our relationships with children, and with ego and our tendencies to be either overly self focused or overly other focused. Aquarius is the sign of the collective, humanity and WE spaces- whereas Leo is the sign of individuality and ME spaces. How do we balance Me with We? How do we balance our own needs and desires with that of the collective and all of humanity?

At the lowest level this Full Moon can magnify the shadow of ego consciousness- me first, I need more, all I care about is my safety and security and wealth and comfort. At its highest this Full Moon can magnify our part in the collective healing experience- our own unique contribution that requires we Shine our Light unbounded!

With the Sun/Moon opposition square Jupiter there is a lot of excess possible at this lunation- excess emotions, excess ego, excess spending and over indulging and more. Jupiter is not just square the Sun and Moon but also to Pluto. Over the top desire for power and control that exacerbates dogma and rigidity and is rooted in fear needs to be seen for what it is. The last vestiges of an old paradigm fearful of change and transformation.

Both teacher Planets Jupiter and Saturn make tense aspects to the Full Moon- schooling us in the right use of ego and reminding us of the sacred balance between self and other, independence and interconnection, personal and collective. With the Yod between Venus in Capricorn sextile Saturn in Pisces- pointing the to the Full Moon in Leo- we are asked to be masterful and grounded while at the same time not holding back our Light, our Truth, our radiance. Not hiding our Light under a bushel- as the Bible states.

Uranus is heading to Standstill- he stations Direct on Saturday and the next day Mercury will trine him. Open your mind and allow new things to come in! New truths, new revelations, inspiration and more. Being willing to question what you have been told to believe, or told was the only truth- is key.

Mercury and Mars are conjunct and parallel in the Full Moon Chart- their exact conjunction is also on Saturday. How do we use the power of our voice to speak up and speak Truth without beating others over the head? Can our voice be strong and clear and still kind and merciful? Can we call a spade a spade without dehumanizing?

I leave you with the Sabian Symbols & Star Sparks degrees for the Sun and Moon. They all have pieces of information that feel on point and you can read the full text for them below. For me what stands out is a need to question our values and morals and allow them to evolve and not allow our social processes to loose touch with Love and Truth. And to be a hamster on a treadmill (or a human on earth right now) and still retain awareness of that Higher part of ourselves that is also there at the same time- both/and. And finally to be willing to surrender and allow – in this time of social unrest- change does not just come from pushing and efforting. It also comes when we let go and allow and open up and say ‘I don’t know- Universe show me the way’.

This Full Moon in Leo can help us get the ego out of the way and let pure Spirit come through.

Blessings…

~Harmony

SABIAN SYMBOLS

6 LEO – FULL MOON

SECOND LEVEL: EMOTIONAL/CULTURAL

PHASE 126 (LEO 6°): A CONSERVATIVE, OLD-FASHIONED LADY IS CONFRONTED BY A “HIPPIE” GIRL.

KEYNOTE: The need to transcend our subservience to fashion, in morals as well as in clothes.

This refers to the ever-changing pageant of social values, as ideals of human relationship succeed one another, one generation facing in the next an antithetic picture of what it has been brought up to consider worthwhile and decent. The confrontation may lead to great bitterness, yet it should show us the impermanence of most of what society impresses upon our collective mentality.

This is the first stage of the twenty-sixth five-fold sequence of phases of the cyclic process. We are dealing now with cultural values and the emotional impact they have upon our character formation. Whereas the first degree of Leo dealt with an individual crisis of reorientation, the sixth degree refers to a collective, cultural and social crisis which challenges us to realize THE RELATIVITY OF SOCIAL VALUES.

6 AQUA – SUN

SECOND LEVEL: EMOTIONAL/CULTURAL

PHASE 306 (AQUARIUS 6°): A MASKED FIGURE PERFORMS RITUALISTIC ACTS IN A MYSTERY PLAY.

KEYNOTE: The individual’s involvement in long-established patterns of activity aiming at the release of collective power.

The great Mysteries of the past were created by inspired Seers and Adepts for the purpose of transferring to a mentally conscious and humanly significant level of group operation what in the lower kingdoms of life we call instincts. Biological and cosmic energies can thus be used to ensure that social processes do not lose touch with the deeper realities of planetary and universal Life. Rituals are binding, and often the performers wear masks, for they do not act as human persons but as focal points for the release of transpersonal forces.

This first symbol of the sixty-second five-fold sequence presents to us social processes in their deepest occult aspect. The individual is seen having assumed a TRANSPERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

6 LEO- FULL MOON

Leo 6 A hamster running in a treadmill

I am a pattern-tracer. I track myself as I go. My sharp intent is to be both witness and participant. If I can hug the edge between avid involvement and immense objective detachment, I can go anywhere, do anything, and still remain aligned with purpose and serenely cool and clear.

My soul battles between opposite extremes. One side of my soul is desperate to get lost in sensation, to become the event, to be swallowed up in experience. This part of me is wild, crazy, chaotic, volatile, and infinitely precious to me. For that one is Earth Alive, has the guts of her convictions, is able to let go into what is here with the most amazing candor and freshness.

Another side of my soul is stalwartly convinced that consciousness is the key to life and that being poised in observant quietude is the supreme attainment. That side pulls me to wake up, to mature, to get it together. With profound spirit will, this one is my core self doing what it does best, which is pure monitoring, out of wisdom and truth.

But I am rarely either of these. I am both mixed together. And it’s a very rough combination. I’ve gotta be both to be myself. Nothing less will satisfy me.

I am driven by a peculiar destiny. It is my path to be lost and found, confused and clear, outer and inner. What I am seeking through all this is to discover somebody in here who is both and more. Yet only raw experience will get me there. So I must make mistakes and go to extremes and alarm everybody.

The witness inside has seen it all already. They await me around every bend. My path is to stay in the mix, even though I know better, and keep on cooking.

6 AQUA- SUN

Aquarius 6 A gardener with just one leg

There’s something we can’t know. We really only are given one side of the picture. We are shown the outward semblance, in all its fine tuned intricacies. And we become adept in wielding the stuff of the world in order to breed what wants to grow and evolve, to thrive and to prosper.

But then there is the other side. The invisible, the intangible, the part barely glimpsed. This is strong by its absence, and calls to us when we are most distracted away from it. And gradually it becomes the main thing going on.

We become spacious, empty, open. We let the world flow through us. It is no longer our business to make sure it fits a pattern, it flows with expectation. All we can do is let it through gracefully and see what happens next.

We still have our left brain expertise, our many skills at juggling worlds out there. We still are blessed with so many ways we can go. None of that gets reduced or diminished. It’s actually amplified, enhanced. When we need to, we can do almost anything from this place.

But the main thing becomes to let there be room for the missing element, for the unknown, for the stranger. We are called into the sensibility of letting be. And this is just as full a job as any.

Getting out of the way, offering light and compassionate presence, we are the chalice for spirit to find its way afresh into this world. The less we know about it, the better. Our part is to allow, to respond, to be there as the mystery unfolds.

We do find that going against is no longer a motivating spark. We do break through to the place where embracing all that is, is natural and inevitable. And we do at last realize that we have been stripped of who we thought we were, to be gifted with somebody else here, a quiet companion.
