this week mercury stations direct, after his 3+ week retrograde journey that began on 7/14, and venus moves into her new home sign of cancer. these two astrological shifts can be seen as shifts of the mind (mercury) and of the heart (venus).
this mercury retrograde hasn’t been as bad as some of the recent ones (yeah- tell that to the person whose computer crashed and they lost all their data!). the aspects during this retrograde journey were mostly all positive- something we cannot say for the last couple of mercury retrogrades that preceded this one. with mercury RX in leo we have had an opportunity to rethink our relationship to ego, passion, creativity, children and authenticity. when mercury is retrograde he goes down into the Unconscious- yet leo is the sign of the conscious self. so the ego-self has had an opportunity to go down into the underworld, confront shadow and glean insights- and then starting on tuesday the 7th (when mercury goes direct) we have an opportunity to come back to the surface, integrate and act on what we saw and understood down in the realm of hades (the underworld/the Unconscious).
the closest aspect to stationing mercury this week is a trine to the evolutionary north node in sagittarius. mercury makes this aspect while he is still retrograde and again after he goes direct- so this aspect is in effect all week long. important insights, aha moments, significant communications and an opening for lower mind to move through to get to the Higher Mind is possible this week! but we have to be open in order for the new information to come in. a closed mind is like a closed parachute- so open it up to find freedom!
with venus, the Goddess of Love and beauty, moving out of airy gemini and into watery cancer we have a shift of the heart from scattered, non-committal, mentally-focused to a more emotional, intuitive, sensitive space. venus was in gemini for an extended time due to her retrograde journey- so having her enter into a new sign is like a breathe of fresh air and can help to open the heart. cancer is a home-loving, family-focused sign- so nurturing and caretaking of those we Love are the order of the coming days! but we need to be aware of the shadow side of cancer which can be exacerbated during venus’ transit here- attachment to the past, difficulty letting go and getting so wrapped up in emotions we cannot see reality with any sort of detachment or perspective.
next week venus will activate the uranus/pluto square- so mark the date of august 15th as it is likely to be intense! not only is venus opposite pluto and square to uranus, mars is also conjunct saturn. saturn, uranus and pluto are some of the heavy hitters of the zodiac and with the personal planets venus and mars we have this intense, activating and evolutionary/destructive energy playing into our personal fields and interpersonal relationships. be aware of the energy of that day (and the days surrounding it) and get clear on where you mastery is and step up to meet it!
