the last new moon of the year occurs on sunday december 17th 2017 at 10:30pm PST. this new moon is at 26’31 sagittarius- conjunct the Galactic Center which is the Cosmic Womb of the Great Mother out of which our galaxy and many others were born. this is the dark rift or xibalba of mayan comology that is constantly giving birth to new stars. we have saturn transiting back and forth over the GC all year long in 2017 and this last new moon brings the poignancy of that transit into focus just before the year ends!
typically new moons are times to plant seeds and set intentions. with sagittarius in focus this can relate to travel, teaching, learning, exploring and expanding our minds. sagittarius is interested in knowledge, Truth and the Bigger Picture. this new moon is a call to discern what is Truth and what is untruth, what is fact and what is fiction. with the new moon triggering the saturn/chiron square- the ‘core wound territory’ transit that unfold from end of 2016 throughout all of 2017- we are being asked to face the Truth of our own wounding, illusion, delusion, self deception and places where we don’t want to see the Truth, we are not living in the Truth and we are spiritual bypassing facing/dealing with reality.
this can be a heavy lunation but also a grounding one- with saturn at the 29th degree of sagittarius (a karmic completion degree) and about to move into capricorn 2 days later- this new moon is one last hurrah for learning the saturn in sagittarius lessons we have been delivered in the last 2 1/2 years.
saturn in sadge has not been the comfiest of transits. saturn rules capricorn and jupiter rules sagittarius and saturn and jupiter are about as opposite as you can get. jupiter is about expansion, saturn about contraction. jupiter is about luck, saturn is about hard work. jupiter is about optimism, saturn is about realism (and sometimes pessimism). saturn in sadge has been teaching us lessons about containing, disciplining and mastering our fire, passion, beliefs (spiritual, political, etc…) and ability to live our Truth.
of course chiron in pisces has been bringing up shadow pisces energy in the collective- deep pain, where we have chosen to become Unconscious or check out so we don’t have to deal with life and reality. saturn is about reality though and saturn coming up against chiron has been bringing up some of our Biggest Stuff. those wounds and pain that keep running us subconsciously- where we keep finding ourselves over and over and we think ‘oh my god i am here again!’- saturn/chiron has brought them into the fore. with both bodies in signs of spirituality- there’s also been a spiritual crisis present. what is Truth? what is the Ultimate Truth versus personal truth. how can we live our truths and still let others live theirs. live and let live is the motto- but with so much hubris and self-righteousness we have a lot people thinking they are right and others are wrong. this creates war and division.
with the new moon conjunct saturn in the last days of his journey through sadge- we are given opportunities to glean some last minute pearls of wisdom that may come via last minute lessons and karmic situations arising that are asking us to step up our self mastery, discipline ourselves and bridge saturn energy with jupiter energy so that we are able to be responsible and expressive, focused and visionary, grounded and adventurous at the same time.
with the new moon on the Galactic Center there can be some big time insights, aha moments and High Frequency realizations or energy incoming in the coming lunar cycle. it is up to us to be quiet enough to listen. this is the dark sun time of the year and it’s a time to be internal and reflective- yet in western culture we tend to spend this time very busy doing lots of holiday events, parties and shopping. this new moon is also trine uranus- activating the saturn/uranus trine which i called a transit for ‘organized revolution’ and ‘manifesting change’. saturn helps us get real- and uranus helps us see where things need to shift. saturn likes the past, uranus likes the future. the lovely trine has helped create a bridge so that we can take the best of the past with us into the future while at the same time seeing what from the past is no longer working and it’s time to let it go and move on.
the ruler of this lunation is jupiter in scorpio- about to hit 15 scorpio but just shy at the time of this new moon. jupiter is in the last degree of the via combusta- the fiery way and area of the scorpion’s stinger in the sky. from 15 libra to 15 scorpio- the via combusta is highly combustible and can be an intense passage for any planet. luckily jupiter is benevolent- and he is helping to shine a Light of consciousness on the hidden shadows and darkness going on behind the scenes- personally, publicly, politically, with men in power and more. jupiter semisquares the sun and moon- reminding us that the Brighter the Light, the darker the shadow. if we really want the Truth- as sadge does- we have to be willing to see/hear it all, even the parts that might piss us off OR show us where we are wrong, out of integrity or not really living aligned with Truth.
mars is approaching jupiter (exact conjunction is 1/6/18)- which can be great for agency, courage and taking initiative! but in deep and intense scorpio it can also amplify and exacerbate the shadow, power/control dynamics and manipulation going on behind the scenes. luckily both mars and jupiter are also trine neptune and sextile pluto- reminding us that compassion and depth of Soul are not only possible but within our reach. and shadow work/inner work cannot be done without either of them! so be willing to go beyond the surface and see more of what is going on behind the scenes in the coming lunar cycle to make the most of the astrology.
in the new moon chart the sun and moon are conjunct aculeus and saturn is conjunct acumen- two stars associated with blindness, or if we are metaphorically speaking the capacity to not see the Truth right in front of our eyes. this is amplified by saturn at 29 sadge- what is the Truth? and where is the Truth right in front of our eyes but we are refusing to see it (politically, collectively, personally, environmentally and otherwise)?

Finely calibrated. Tuned into a multiple consciousness that is sensed and known as though it were singular and familiar and just the place to hang out when you want to be living at the crossroads. But all the forces encountered on the outside are also alive in the inside and anything we can meet here is also met completely and utterly by one of our many voices inside.
An extraordinary aptitude for exchanging, for cross-fertilizing, for being useful, informative or decisive in planting seeds and bringing the unexpected to bear. Able to slip through with enough enigmas at once to throw anybody off. But amidst the chaos, there is a message and a meaning.
What comes through here is life wisdom which has arisen from every side and been gathered from myriad worlds. The life wisdom is easily accessible, yet veiled. It is right there for the asking, but it comes across in a form that makes it seem far removed from what it is. And so somebody who tracks on casual familiarity is the greatest of strangers bringing to bear far flung treasures which are given forth as basic, as already known, as common fare.

On the innermost planes, this is an influence of tapping boundless worlds freely as a matter of course. It is astoundingly rich in it’s reach and it’s grasp. The fertility is so great that it would be staggering to play it out at it’s own life. So it slips into something casual and just happens to mention that the whole of existence is bursting into bloom.
