so leo has been in the news a lot lately and it has not been regarding movies he is in or parties he is going to or who he is dating. he is taking a stand for Mother Earth by speaking about climate change- a charged topic that can really get you on the blacklist of certain people particularly higher ups who are involved in the big businesses that are destroying the planet. so i have a new found appreciation of him as a human being and of course this made me want to look at his chart. this blog speaks to some of the highlights that i found when doing so.
first of all leo is a scorpio sun, libra moon and libra rising. his chart is 1/2 water- very emotional, sensitive, intuitive and feeling oriented. yet he is a scorpio- a sign that does not like to put his emotions (particularly his vulnerability) out into the open. and he is libra rising- an air sign that likes to present a balanced, peaceful face sometimes at the expense of sweeping intense emotions under the carpet. yet we cannot forget that his moon is conjunct pluto- and that both venus and mars are in scorpio, the sign of pluto and pluto is conjunct his ascendant. he has a strong plutonian chart underneath the libra mask he shows to the world (the ascendant is often seen as a mask). i would imagine the libra is great for beauty, attraction and eloquence (great for acting!), while the scorpio energy is what makes him dig to get to the Truth and be all or nothing in his pursuit of seeing and acknowledging the shadow (great for psychology, research and investigation).
it is interesting to note that what he is missing in his chart is earth. he has zero planets or angles in earth (with only one asteroid in earth- pallas). to see his love of the earth and her beauty and majesty in the documentary ‘before the flood’ was heartening. i see the earth the same way- i often am in awe of rock formations, trees, animals, the ocean and more. it comes to me as second nature and i am always surprised when others don’t respond in the same way as i do when they see a butterfly, look at the stars, or watch the sunset. it must have to do with having half your chart in water (i have that) as well as lots of bodies in pisces as we both do. when an element is missing we tend to either overdo it as means to compensate or feel disconnected from it. with earth missing this can express as over focus on the material world, the body, safety and security or it could be a disconnect from the body, feeling ungrounded and spacey. for me the symbolism of earth missing and his profound stance he is taking for the earth is very synchronistic. it’s as though this dharmic work he is doing is helping him find balance with the element missing from his chart.
his sun in scorpio is in the 2nd house- conjunct lovely venus his chart ruler. great for physical attraction, depth and passion in relationship, and also possessiveness and jealousy. his sun/venus conjunction is conjunct the asteroid atlantis- speaking to past life connections to this ancient, sunken land. his documentary is called ‘before the flood’ and he could very well be talking about atlantis before the flood too. i get a strong sense that his taking a stand for climate change is actually deeply connected to a past lifetime in atlantis where he was either the one who contributed to the demise then and he is making up for that now OR he was aware of what was going on then and tried to speak up and stop it but it was too late or no one listened. there is a karmic piece connected to this present day situation and ancient atlantis- and i would be curious if he was consciously aware of this.
his sun is also conjunct sisyphus- the asteroid connected to the greek myth of the man who kept pushing a rock up the hill only to have it fall all the way back down just before he reached the top. with sun/sisyphus quincunx chiron the wounded healer this can play out in relationships. old wounds and pain around intimacy and connection can contribute to consciously or unconsciously sabotaging relationships. i don’t know much about leo but i do know he dates a lot of models for short periods of time (at least that is what the news says). i would be curious to know what his thoughts and feelings are about his short relationships that never seem to make it long term? sun/venus with libra rising actually values relationship and partnership. yet his jupiter/juno in pisces could be overly idealistic and perfectionist in terms of what he is looking for. from a depth psychological standpoint the man waiting for the perfect partner that never seems to materialize is often actually really afraid of deep intimacy and being fully met so he keeps attracting the wrong partners or the right people that he is not ready for so it does not work out.
chiron is also opposite his moon- so he has chiron, the wounded healer, tied up with both feminine planets. this can speak to his relationship with his mother or possibly father (his moon rules his saturn which is a father archetype and saturn rules his 4th house of father)- who was either a healer, wounded or wounding towards him when he was young (maybe all 3?). with chiron in aries the wounding is around anger, aggression, speaking up, saying no and setting boundaries. with chiron in the 7th the wounding is around relationship and connection with others- with a tendency for these unhealed wounds to make the path of relationship difficult. typically with chiron in aries one saw anger modeled in unhealthy ways in childhood- either overly expressed and even violent or stuffed/repressed and disconnected from. so there can be a journey of healing around anger and honoring boundaries in relationship (his own and others). **for anyone on a healing journey with anger i highly recommend the book ‘emotional intimacy’ and ‘the anatomy and evolution of anger’ by robert masters.** for chiron to be tied up with moon and venus- this can also speak to his wounding and healing journey around his relationship with the feminine. both the feminine within (his own anima) and the feminine without. learning how to honor his own vulnerability, neediness, sensitivity and feminine energies and integrate that with his masculine direction, action, power and presence is the sacred inner marriage that will lead him to finding the sacred outer one (if that is what he is wanting in his life).
another important aspect to take note of in his chart is his mercury conjunct uranus at the karmic 29th degree in his 1st house of self. mercury is the lower mind and uranus is the Higher Mind- put them together and you have genius potential. intuitive, insightful, bolt out of the blue awarenesses that come out of nowhere. very potent aspect for communication and with the 29th degree there is some kind of completion energy playing out in regards to his voice and the Truths he expresses. again making me think back to atlantis and where perhaps he tried to be the voice then but it was too late or no one listened?
his moon in libra that is conjunct pluto is also a dark moon. the dark moon is the last part of the lunar cycle and demetra george posits the theory that it represents that you are in the last lifetime in a series of 8 lifetimes- and this one is all about tying up loose ends, completing karma and finishing unfinished business. again in the light of the atlantis story- this could be his last lifetime to get it right! this could also speak to the many love relationships he has that are short lived- as demetra says people with dark moons often have lots of relationships that are actually about completion and not necessarily about longevity. his moon is also conjunct nemesis which points to where our undoing is or our achilles heel. moon/pluto opposite chiron definitely can speak to intense emotional relationships where there’s a wounding and healing journey around how to be in relationship with others and not have it devolve into power/over power/under dynamics or emotional manipulation/holding back of intimacy and connection to be the one ‘in power’. another lesson could be about how to be fully present to his emotions and fully in his intimate relationships without checking out.
another big aspect in his chart is saturn in cancer in his 10th house square chiron in aries in his 7th. these are the two heavy hitter planets. saturn is where we are hard on ourselves, hold ourselves back and have karma to work through and chiron is where we have big wounds and pain and feel unloved or rejected. to have them square is potent and he has been having uranus waking up/shaking up these two by squaring his saturn from spring 2015 to spring 2016 and conjoining his chiron from spring 2016 till spring 2017. from 2017-2019 pluto will trigger them both as well. uranus can be a major activator for forcing him to look at his pain, wounds and fears in a big way. it’s also a time of destabilizing old structures/attitudes/places he holds himself back out of fear- with opportunities to break through and break free. pluto in the next few years can take the initial inquiry and experience of wake up/shake up deeper. pluto demands ruthless honestly and transformation- so he is heading into some big years where lessons, opportunities for mastery, facing wounds and deepening his healing journey are incoming- both professionally (10th house) but also personally in regards to his intimate relationships (7th house). (btw this is a GREAT time to be in therapy or to be doing any kind of inner work like shadow work)
saturn in cancer has a journey around emotions and often times a journey with a mother figure but it could be father instead (saturn is father, cancer is mother- so it’s hard to tell). saturn likes to be in control and have everything figured out- so he is not comfortable in cancer and can actually repress/deny his own emotions, vulnerability and sensitivity. yet with half his chart in water he is a DEEPLY sensitive person. there’s no getting around it. the key to healing is realizing that sensitivity is actually strength. people who can actually face and fully feel their emotions are some of the strongest people on the planet. people who stuff/repress/deny their emotions, vulnerabilities and pain actually do so because they are afraid of what will happen when they really face all that they repress. he can be in the midst of this process of acknowledging feelings, dealing with childhood stuff and allowing himself to be vulnerable in relationship right now and when pluto comes into oppose his saturn next year that journey will be taken deeper!
we also have to take note of his jupiter in pisces conjunct both ceres the Great Mother asteroid Goddess and juno the asteroid Goddess of partnership and marriage. this can manifest as idealization about the perfect woman- as ideal mother and ideal wife. this can create issues when it comes to real, long term relationship (think madonna/whore complex). yet in terms of environmental activism- ceres is most always configured in the charts of people who take a stand for Mother Earth. and he has ceres conjunct jupiter- the planet of success and where we are blessed and lucky. this position in his chart has been activated by neptune- waking him up to his spiritual ideals and potential to be of service in a much bigger way than just being an actor could do for the world. (neptune aligned with his ceres spring 2012 to spring 2013, with his june spring 2014-spring 2015 and his jupiter spring 2015 to spring 2016). in addition in his progressed chart jupiter and ceres are almost exactly conjunct at 11-12 pisces- also activated by neptune this year and next. the exact progressed jupiter/ceres conjunction will be in september 2023- just a year before he turns 50 (read below for why 50 is signifiant for him).
the north node of destiny evolution and growth is in sagittarius and his 3rd house- speaking to his own personal path of evolution being tied up with communication and speaking the Truth (sadge is all about the pursuit of Truth). his north node is conjunct neptune in sagittarius- showing that spirituality, creativity and/or selfless service is part of his dharmic path. both neptune and the north node are also conjunct vesta- the priestess asteroid that speaks to what we are deeply and altruistically devoted to. all of these placements have been activated by the saturn/neptune square since spring 2015 and will continue to be activated throughout 2017. big time wake up calls to his destiny, dharma and Greater Purpose in the world are happening right now. saturn on the north node from january to september 2016 started a brand new 30 year cycle around destiny and evolution- and things/people/situations that came or come into his life this year can be significant in terms of the next 30 year cycle unfolding.
i do want to talk about his pluto- which is conjunct his ascendant and powerfully placed. he is definitely a pluto person- 3 planets in scorpio, 7 pluto aspects and one of them being a conjunction to the face he puts out into the world (the ascendant). this is a power placement. pluto people have charisma and magnetism. this can speak to past lifetimes where they were celebrities, political figures, magicians or occultists. the key with pluto is to learn to use your power for good- as if you don’t it can become destructive. his pluto is conjunct bacchus- the greek god of ecstasy, women and wine. bacchus also represents excess, addiction and the tendency to manage feelings via substance or avoidance (martha welcott). this can speak to a big journey around 2nd charka mastery- learning how to discern lower desires from Higher ones. i would imagine being born into the position he is in makes this an extra potent lesson- as having all the money/women/drugs/alcohol/etc… that he wants would make it very hard to reign things in, say no and discipline the 2nd chakra. and yet that is the path to mastery- and to master himself he must! (and likely he called in this lifetime simply to test himself and see if he can use his power for good!)
chiron in his 7th as i mentioned can speak to the plethora of short lived relationships due to wounding around intimacy and deeper connection. chiron stations direct when he is 50 which is the same year chiron returns (and the year before he has progressed jupiter conjunct progressed ceres). this is always a pivotal transit. it can be a profound one of awakening and coming more into your purpose- it can also be a big year for unresolved old wounds and pain coming to the fore to be really worked with and healed. it may not be until he is 50 that he is ready, willing and able to settle down (and with jupiter/ceres perhaps have kids). or if he thinks he is ready but the right person has not come along- then maybe it won’t be till he is 50 that he realizes that the lowest common denominator is him and it had nothing to do with the wrong women and had more to do with the wrong mindset or relationship- consciousness ;) (another great book recommendation: transformation through intimacy- a journey to awakened monogamy by robert masters)
the last two things i want to note about his natal chart is that he has hopi conjunct his IC- which shows another past life connection this time with the native american tribes (not just hopi but all of the native american cultures can be represented by this asteroid). this could be why he feels so connected to the earth and why he is taking a stand for Her. i am curious what his stance is on standing rock?
last but not least he has kassandra on his ascendant! kassandra was a prophetess who saw the future and spoke the Truth. originally she was a priestess and oracle of the Goddess but then patriarchy took over and she became a priestess of apollo. apollo desired her and demanded she sleep with him- she resisted. apollo got mad and cursed her- saying she had the gift of prophecy but no one would believe her. when someone has kassandra prominent in their chart they have the gift of prophecy- seeing into the future- and yet they also have a journey around being heard and perhaps giving warnings of what is to come to individuals or a collective that is not ready to hear it. coming from someone who has kassandra on her sun- seeing the Truth when no one wants to hear it or see it is not a fun medicine to carry. and yet the path of kassandra is to still speak the Truth as your dharma and commitment is to the Truth at any cost! this is also a position that speaks to the journey of trusting one’s intuition- even when the rest of the world tells you you are wrong but your gut says otherwise. this is a hard earned lesson- one i am personally still learning and refining.
i do hope people heed leo’s warning- and the warning of the other scientists, medicine men and women, ancient sacred cultures and prophets that are saying/have been saying for years/centuries/eons that how we treat the earth is not only not okay but it’s detrimental and can have dire consequences if we don’t shift something NOW. we cannot rape and pillage our Mother for profit and power and not have consequences for our actions. as i said in a previous blog if we don’t do something soon she may have to- and that could necessitate her saving herself but not necessarily saving us!
if you have not seen leo’s documentary ‘before the flood’ i highly recommend you see it. i know there are naysayers out there saying that climate change is not real. i have to say i am a highly intuitive person and even beyond scientific data- my intuition says this is real. so do my dreams- as i have many dreams about what is happening to Mother Earth. and further my intuition says that if we don’t do something about it now we will reach a tipping point where there is no turning back. i have been here at this pivotal time on earth many lifetimes before. i am hoping this time we will get it. either that or we will all be back here again in the future- trying to get it right yet again. i vote for not putting off for the next life what we could do today. so how about we get it right this time? how about NOW? ;)
