the full moon in taurus is exact on thursday, november 6th at 2:23pm PST- marking the midway point of the current lunar cycle we are in that began with the potent and powerful solar eclipse in scorpio on october 23rd. the full moon occurs when the sun is precisely opposite the moon, fulling illuminating the face of the moon in ways that enhance, illuminate and/or exacerbate emotions and the Unconscious. full moons bring time of climax, crisis or culmination- and with the taurus/scorpio axis highlighted we are likely dealing with issues around values, possessions, money, debt, intimate relationships, and/or the balance of give and take in our lives.
this full moon occurs at 15 taurus which is the precise midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. with the sun exactly opposite at 15 scorpio, we have the cross quarter days of beltane (15 taurus) and samhain (15 scorpio) highlighted. the cross quarter points are the midpoints of the seasons we are in and they mark points of transition where we begin to move deeper into the days of dark (which is what samhain represents) or vice versa as we begin to move deeper into the days of Light (which is what beltane represents). most people celebrate samhain/halloween on 10/31- but if you are truly looking at the solar holy-day you would want to be aligning with the day(s) that the sun transits the 15th degree of scorpio- which occurs this year on november 6th and 7th.
the sun/moon straddles this beltane/samhain axis and also involves venus, jupiter and saturn- so they all form a T-square with moon in taurus opposite sun/venus/saturn in scorpio and all of them square jupiter in leo. this is a very important T-square alignment as it highlights the jupiter/saturn square that is forming right now. jupiter in leo will square saturn in scorpio in august 2015, but right now they are very close (3 1/2 degrees apart) and venus is triggering both this week and next! at the end of this week on sunday november 9th venus squares jupiter and next week on wednesday november 12th venus will cojoin saturn. so in relationships, our values, Love and money situations we are likely to find ourselves polarized between expansion and contraction, growth and pruning, saying yes and saying no, shining our Light and owning our shadow. ultimately we are navigating the fine line between both and we are attempting to find a place where both seeming opposites can come together in harmony. we are looking for both/and solutions instead of either/or, black/white polarity. and this is what jupiter/saturn is attempting to teach us right now!
with the full moon activating this dynamic- we are challenged to look at what attachments to people/ideas/things we are holding onto that we need to let go of. with the sun, venus and saturn in scorpio- the potential for transformation and rebirth only comes when we have allowed death/endings/completions to happen. when you look at the positive aspects of the moon to uranus and pluto (the moon semisextiles uranus and trines pluto), we can see that we do in fact have the potential to harness the deep transformative energy of these two planets in ways that support shift, change, evolution and breakthroughs! yet in order to fully access this we have to be willing to let go of something.
a significant asteroid in the full moon chart is kassandra. she was a prophetess who could divine the future, but she was cursed by apollo himself when she refused his advances and he made it so that no one would believe what she saw or said. she had this journey of living with a profound gift that no one wanted to hear or make use of. she could see things people did not want to see, and she would say things people did not want to hear. ultimately her journey was one of trust- trusting herself and what she knew, and not needing external validation to align with and speak her inner Truth. but she also had a lesson about learning when to speak up and when not to- and when to share something and then let go of any expectation of how that information would be received or acted upon. for deeply intuitive and psychic people- the kassandra myth is one that is very real. when we live in a world that only values the 5 senses and rationality or logic- and someone comes along with a gift of seeing that which cannot be literally seen- the messenger is often thought to be mad or weird and the person is often ostracized)
with kassandra on the moon and opposite the sun- we have deep Unconscious energies arising that can come via intuition, dreams and psychic impressions. yet some, or much, of what we realize or intuit may go against what we want to hear or see, or what the world wants to hear and see. being able to align with our Truth and not be swayed by fears of what others would say or how we would look is key during this lunation. to add to this the full moon is conjunct menkar- a fixed star that symbolizes being a victim of the Unconscious. we are only a victim when we allow our power to be taken. if our power is sourced outside of ourselves- in the need for validation, acceptance and Love- then we will find ourselves disempowered when we try to take a stand for what we believe to be True but end up backing off because we are afraid of what others will think or say.
with atlantis on the north node of the moon- we are reminded of where we could go, personally and collectively, if we choose to go down the wrong path or if we pretend to not know what is terribly wrong in a way that makes us apathetic and disconnected, incapable of taking a stand. the Highest destiny of atlantis was that of advanced knowledge and technology that is not divorced from spirituality, integrity and morality but is in fact in UNION with them. again this speaks to the tipping point/shifting point of 15 taurus/scorpio- we are at a point personally and collectively where we can choose to move deeper into Unconsciousness or we can choose to move deeper into Consciousness. what will we as a humanity choose? what will you as an individual choose?
in the background of this full moon chart we have mars out of bounds and heading into activation with uranus and pluto exact next week. shifts, changes, endings and new beginnings are in-coming! yet with mars as lower/egoic will- we do need to be aware of when we are coming from ego and when we are coming from our Higher Selves. mars in capricorn is driven and focused and we can really move mountains in the coming couple of weeks. we just want to be sure that the actions we take are made with consciousness and awareness. watch out for aggression, impulsivity and the desire to be in control. the only one you want to be controlling right now is yourself. so disengage from any reality that seems otherwise!
with venus governing this lunation- as well as the solar eclipse we just had two weeks ago- relationships, our values, our self-worth and finances are all in focus (and likely in the midst of shift!). luckily venus aspects the evolutionary north node (and she currently rules the north node as well). so the opportunities for growth and evolution are profound right now! but we have to be willing to move away from the past- old karmic patterns, old ways of doing and being, old attachments or desires that no longer serve. seeing where Unconscious energies keep us locked in the past is the first step, and then being willing to take action and release ourselves from that which holds us back is the next step. this full moon can certainly assist you on that path! steer clear of victim/tyrant behavior- and move deeper into empowerment!
