Full Moon in Libra
The Full Moon at 23’20 Libra is exact on Saturday April 12th, 2025 at at 8:22pm EDT- marking the midway point of the Lunar Cycle we are in that began with the Partial Solar Eclipse in Aries on March 29th. That New Moon was VERY PURE in its energy- not making any major aspects to any other planets. A big activation and birth or rebirth energy was connected to that Eclipse- and now we have the halfway point checkin.
The Aries/Libra axis is one of me vs we, self vs other, independence vs interconnection. We want to put ourselves first in healthy ways a la Aries but we also want to be relational and collaborative to honor Libra. Each of us tends to have a natural default to one of them that we will often overdo at the expense of the other. This is reflected in the core wounds of abandonment (Libra’s wound) and engulfment (Aries wound). If our deepest wound is abandonment we will be overly relational, if our deepest wound is engulfment we will be overly independent.
This Full Moon is opposite the Sun/Chiron conjunction (and also the approaching Chiron/Eris conjunction) which can shine a HUGE SPOTLIGHT on relationships and the whole self/other dance. Some of us sacrifice ourselves too much, others of us are too selfish and self focused. All if stems from core wounds- which when not seen and healed- end up running us unconsciously. A new balance must be struck- so tuning into where your own growth edge is calling you forward is key.
The day of the Full Moon we have the precise Sun/Chiron conjunction at 12pm EDT and we have Venus the Ruler of the Lunation stationing Direct 40 minutes after the Full Moon- making the signature of the Full Moon (opposite Chiron) and the ruler of it (Venus) both very powerful. This can be a Full Moon that helps us heal but it can also be a Full Moon that magnifies the wounds tenfold. If we are not looking at the wounds, taking off the rose colored glasses, sweeping things under the carpet and/or over-focusing on ourselves in a way that hurts others- this Full Moon could be a wake up call!
Chiron is making his way to cojoin Eris- the first of 3 will be on May 26th-27th (Pacific/Eastern Time). Eris is the Goddess of Discord and Chaos but also an activist and warrior archetype. The healing that Chiron demands when in Aries aligned with Eris is healing around our egos, wills and selfishness- as well as healing around our expression of anger, rage and agency. Some of us suppress this, some of this default to this- in both extremes it is unhealthy. This can a profoundly healing transits if we are willing to do the Inner Work it demands. And this Full Moon can most certainly amplify and bring to life just what is being asked of us personally and collectively as we move towards the first conjunction.
The Full Moon is in T-square with Mars- and in 2 weeks we have the final Mars/Pluto opposition. In truth, we have some very Martian Territory incoming (from April 20th-27th- carrying into the next New Moon and Lunar Cycle). We want to be in right relationship to Mars energy- if we stuff or deny it it can cause dis-ease and depression. If we explode in it it can cause violence, aggression and relational problems. Getting into right relationship with Mars, will, ego, anger and power is key right now as we move towards the intense astrology portal incoming.
The Full Moon also forms a Yod or Finger of God/Goddess with Venus/Saturn/North Node in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is harmoniously linking with Venus, Saturn and the North Node- and all of them tensely aspect the Full Moon. We want to use our minds and relational capacity in ways that help and heal- not serve to separate us from our emotions (Pisces) or body (Taurus), and not in ways that create over sacrifice of self. With a Standstill Venus we are being shown the period of reevaluation we have been in is now moving into a time of acting on what we have realized. Ending relationships, starting relationships, changing our values, making decisions that come from deeper self worth and self Love can be on the agenda!
The Full Moon is conjunct Spica in Virgo and Arcturus in Bootes. These are the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine stars- where he is the protector and defender of her as the defenseless one and she is the protector of Heaven and the unarmed one (the ancient Arabic meanings of the names of these stars). I feel into the Sun/Chiron conjunction in Aries with Mars square this Lunation- and I wonder about the need for a shift in how the masculine energy is run in our world. Not as taker, raper, power hungry, controller- but as sacred protector and defender of innocence and purity. The original template of the Divine Masculine that needs to be reclaimed.
Interestingly all the personal Planets are slow or at Standstill- while all the social and outer Planets are moving forward in fast pace. Our egos and small selves need to SLOW DOWN- and the Higher Self parts of us need to lead. This is definitely a time to think before we act- personally but also leaders of countries and military powers. DO NOT set things into motion you cannot undo!
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon talk about a Butterfly with a 3rd wing on the Left Side (the feminine side) and the Sun/Chiron degree speaks of a Pregnant Woman in light summer dress. Both speak to something new coming in through the feminine aspect of our being- yes women, but more important the feminine within.
The Venus Station Degree speaks to ‘a religious organization succeeds in overcoming the corrupting influence of perverted practices and materialized ideals’. This degree speaks to a purification of Soul- which can come through moments of crisis- which comes by way of the power of the Soul to intervene and induce catharsis when we have fallen too far off the path. All 3 of these symbols feel deeply connected.
I will add one more thing to the Full Moon Chart- the position of the asteroid Kassandra conjunct both Venus and Saturn (and more widely the North Node). Venus is at standstill so the conjunction to Kassandra is amplified and is a mere 21 minutes from exact. Kassandra was a prophetess and her modern story tells us that she was liar and Apollo wanted to sleep with her and so in exchange he gave her the gift of prophecy but one she got it she reneged on her side of the deal. He got mad so he cursed her and said ‘you have the gift of prophecy but no one is going to believe you’.
But actually anciently Kassandra was a prophetess of the matriarchal oracle that Apollo came and violently took over. She was already psychic- he did not give her this gift. He did want to sleep with her- but she said no, so he got mad and he cursed her. A very different telling of the story is it not?
Kassandra on a standstill Venus with a Full Moon in Libra conjunct the Divine Feminine Star of Spica- all speaks of a new way to honor the feminine. Do we rape her, take from her, extract from her, demand things from her that go against her will? The original template of Ares was protector of crops and preventer of disease and pestilence. He was also the only god who does not have rape stories about him (there is one of the mother of Romulus and Remus- but it is said that she was a Vestal Virgin and would have been put to death so she said a god got her pregnant to be spared). He is the only god who stood up against rape- his daughter was being accosted and in a rage he killed the man. It is also said of Ares that all women willing sleep with him (meaning he has their consent- is not pursuing them or going after them when they are not interested).
This can certainly apply in literal ways- women need to be honored and protected and men need to stop acts of violence against women, and children and the elderly. But this is also about our own inner feminine and inner masculine. Where does the masculine part of us- our ego, will, anger, rage, energy- extract or take from our feminine- our heart, soul, kindness, compassion, empathy and emotions. Where is the inner relationship out of balance and it is reflecting an outer relationship that is imbalance in the world.
As the Hermetic maxim states “As within, so without”- so if we want the without to change, we must start within. Another line in the same maxim states “As above, so below” and this is why we need new myths that inspire humanity to awaken and heal. Myths of conquering, waring, raping, killing and slaying keep us stuck in a low vibration consciousness of war and violence. “As the Universe, so the Soul”- we do not just do work to heal within, it extends without. Each of our Soul’s contribute to the Universe and the shift we are in the midst of.
Use this Full Moon opposite Chiron with Venus stationing Direct to heal and awaken! To open your heart, come into right relationship within and without. Be pregnant and fertile with new life, grow a 3rd wing on the left side- meaning let the heart awaken to new growth. And let us overcome the corrupting influence of perverted practices and materialized ideals- the very things that are killing the human Spirit and harming our planet- it is time for the Soul to intervene.
