this week features some interesting astrology. you may or may not know that there is an aspect called the finger of god or finger of fate- it involves two planets harmoniously aspecting each other by a sextile (60 degrees) and they both quincunx (150 degree aspect) a third planet. these two harmoniously aspecting planets essentially point to a third planet- as though the finger of God is pointing to it for necessary adjustments in order for evolution and growth to occur.
well this week we have a similar pattern in the sense that something is being pointed to- but it involves different aspects. this week we have mercury and venus moving into orb of a square to mars (their exact square aspects happen next week 10/27-28)- and all three personal planets are sesquiquadrate (135 degrees) retrograde uranus in aries. the aspect this makes is called ‘the finger of the world’ (also known as thor’s hammer or the fist of god!). essentially this week we have the mind, the feminine and the masculine all interacting with and pointing the finger of the world to uranus in aries- the great awakener, rebel and revolutionary. in addition we have another ‘finger of the world aspect’ occuring with uranus square to pluto and mars in leo sequiquadrating them both. this one is even more intense in my opinion as it involves the dynamically aspected outer planets and the personal planet mars who rules the will, drive, anger and war- and who is in the sign of the ego! sounds like things might heat up personally and globally in the next week or two, huh?
astro.com says that the finger of the world involves a focal planet (uranus in aries, mars in leo) and that it will drive us personally and collectively to “integrate and actively resolve the challenge of the planets in square aspect”. the square aspect involves mercury and venus in scorpio square to mars in leo in the first ‘finger of the world’- both of which are exact next week but they build up and perfect their sesquiquadrate aspects to uranus this week so we will most definitely be feeling it. the second ‘finger of the world’ involves uranus square to pluto- which is a revolutionary aspect that is going to change the world as we know it over the next several years. the first exact uranus/pluto square isn’t until next june (2012) and we are already feeling it! we are in the midst of massive transformation right now- and there is no escaping it.
in the first ‘finger of the world’ aspect we are being asked to integrate and actively resolve the challenge between the mind and heart (mercury and venus) and the will and drive (mars), between thinking and feeling (mercury and venus) and taking acting (mars), between neutrality and the feminine (mercury and venus) and the masculine (mars). the great awakener and rebel uranus is impulsing us to take action, take a stand, speak up, say no, express anger and assert ourselves personally and collectively. the revolutions that are springing up in the US as well as around the world are perfect examples of this energy being manifested globally- but i am sure we can all see in our personal lives where this is playing out as well. an old order and paradigm is falling and a new one cannot come in until we clean out the crap from the past. the finger of the world is pointing to what needs to be dealt with and integrated- and uranus is the planet who can help us do what needs to be done.
the second ‘finger of the world’ aspect is asking us to integrate and actively resolve the challenge between the awakened warrior (uranus in aries) and the dying/toxic/destructive patriarchal structures in the world (pluto in capricorn), between anger and control, between change and tradition. mars in leo is the vehicle through which we are being impulsed to integrate and resolve this challenge- and so it is by inspired leadership, creative will, and passionate drive that we can do so. we need to be conscious that we stay out of narcissisitic leadership, self-focused will and hubris though- as mars in leo’s shadow can also come out in destructive ways.
needless to say- it should be an interesting next couple of weeks ;)
