the 29th degree…

by | Jan 16, 2012 | Astrology Blog

this week features a pretty interesting dynamic with not one but four planets or asteroids at the 29th degree of their respective signs.  this is called the anaretic degree and it is a critical placement- activating an energy of closure and karmic completion of the lessons the planet or asteroid is learning in the sign it is transiting.  when planets are placed at the last degree of a sign it is similar to a dark moon energy (which we are currently in this week as the new moon occurs late sunday night pacific time/early morning morning the following week)- there is an energy of death or transition preceding rebirth which occurs as the planet moves into 0 degrees of the next sign.

this week we find the sun at 29 capricorn, saturn at 29 libra, neptune at 29 aquarius and ceres at 29 pisces.  so there is a karmic completion/dark moon energy playing out with the conscious self and ego (sun), the planet of karma, limitation and responsibility (saturn), the planet of mysticism, illusion and delusion (neptune), and the asteroid goddess governing mothering, nurturing and caretaking.

two aspects that stand out this week, which i have gone into detail about in the weekly astrology forecast, involve the sun at 29 capricorn square libra at 29 libra (exact on thursday the 19th) and saturn at 29 libra quincunx ceres at 29 pisces (exact on monday the 16th).  there are profound lessons being learned this week when it comes to boundaries in relationships- romantic, family and otherwise.  with the last degree featured what is coming up is likely something that has been in process for a while- and we are finally being asked to step up, get it and move on.

this is quite a week!  next week mars goes retrograde (on monday the 23rd)- so we are in the slowdown station of mars all week.  the following week neptune moves into pisces (on friday february 3rd) and the week after that saturn stations retrograde (on tuesday february 7th).  there is a lot going on right now and for the next month.  this week is a transition space.  in childbirth transition is that space right before the baby’s head starts crowing and for many it is the MOST intense point of the childbirthing process.  it’s that point where mothers scream ‘i can’t do this anymore!’ yet it’s the point right before the whole birthing process completes itself.

as you find yourself at your own personal transition point this week and the next couple of weeks- remember this metaphor.  you are giving birth to some new part of yourself- and so is the world right now.  ‘the pain you feel is the breaking of the shell that encloses you’ (kahlil gibran).  this, too, shall pass.  become a midwife to your own evolutionary process!

enjoy…
