this week commences a very powerful and potentially life altering (personally and collectively) astrological configuration. on wednesday the 14th pluto squares the true nodes of the moon, kicking off the uranus/pluto square’s activation of the nodes of destiny and karma. there are two variations of the nodes of the moon- true and mean. pluto squares the true nodes on the 14th and the mean nodes on the 20th, and uranus will cojoin the true south node on the 20th and cojoin the mean south node on the 31st. so for the last two weeks of january we have the shake up/wake up crew (uranus and pluto) energizing our past and our future in ways that can really impact where we stand in the present.
i like to see the north node as the node of dharma- which means ‘right path’ which aligns us with Universal law or Truth. and i see the south node as the node of karma, which speaks to actions we have taken in the past (this life or past lives) which have set into motion energies which result in karma we have to deal with in this lifetime (and future lifetimes) until resolution is found. when powerful outer planets activate the nodes of karma and dharma- our past and our future is on the line. when planets square both nodes, as pluto will do this week, they form a T-square which has potent implications. planets square the nodes bring us to pivotal points of choice where we can choose to keep on playing out the same karmic patterns of the past OR we can choose to grow beyond our preconceived limitations and move further on our path of dharma.
with the lord of the underworld involved, the choices we are presented with right now require a death and letting go of something on some level. it’s interesting to note that pluto is the Higher Will and the south node is currently in the sign of aries, which is ruled by mars the lower will. if we are solely relying on our will and ego energies right now to power through our lives, there will be consequences to our actions. the north node in libra requires collaboration, connection and compromise. ultimately we need to balance the ME-ness of the south node in aries with the WE-ness of the north node in libra. actions taken now without awareness of others and the implications it can have on the world around us will be costly. this is a collective warning- as much as it is a personal one.
from the 20th to the 31st when uranus cojoins the south node, we have a MAJOR evolutionary push for releasing the karmic past. releasing our anger, aggression, selfishness, impulsiveness, and lack of awareness of others is the focus. uranus is liberation and freedom and with uranus on the south node of karma we can free ourselves from some major karmic patterns/relationships/agreements. yet this freedom will not come easy and we will have to work hard for it. we have to find the willingness, readiness and ability within ourselves to challenge our attachments to the past and embrace the evolution required of us right now so that we can move into our destined future.
i had a reader comment the other day during a talk i gave that this T-square sounds like the makings of a war starting. i certainly hope not- although that is a possibility. i also think there’s a possibility of breaking free from ancient patterns driven by control, greed, fear and dominance. it really could go either way- it all depends on the collective consciousness and the choices we make collectively, and also personally. because my focus is on the spiritual and psychological i tend to focus on the inner meaning of whatever is playing out in the sky. as above, so below- as without, so within. whatever is going on ‘out there’ is merely a reflection of what is going on ‘in here’. as individuals i feel one of the most powerful contributions we can make to the shift and evolution of this planet is by doing the deep, inner work that helps US shift and evolve. when we do this inner work it reverberates out into the world and contributes energy to the tipping point we are fast approaching. so from this inward perspective i see this T-square being about the war going on INSIDE of us and the opportunities we have right now to break free from ancient karmic patterns that keep us internally divided. with the nodes of destiny/dharma and karma involved this T-square points to choices we can make right now that help us create peaceful alliances within. and when we can find peace within we can fine and create peace without.
