we are at a pivotal point of shift in the seasons today as the summer solstice in the north/winter solstice in the south becomes exact at 4:09pm PDT. today the sun moves from the last degree of gemini (the degree of yesterday’s new moon) to the first degree of cancer- moving over the aries point (0 degrees of any cardinal signs- aries/cancer/libra/capricorn) and shifting us into a new season. the solstices are very important points in time, but even more so today because of the energy generating between uranus and pluto who are about to make their first exact square this sunday june 24th, just 4 days after the solstice. this is an important astrological signature that will last until 2015.
uranus is the great awakener, rebel and revolutionary and in the sign of aries he is waking up the collective anger, rage, need to assert the self, take action and say no! pluto is the lord of the underworld who exposes what is toxic, destructive and what lies in the shadow. in the sign of capricorn he is exposing the power/control dynamics and subtle manipulations of the patriarchy, governments, political powers that be, big business as well as structures, obligations and commitments in our lives. with these two in tense aspect a good mantra to keep in mind over the coming years is ‘breakdowns precede breakthroughs’. anything that is not in integrity or alignment collectively or personally is going to be up BIG TIME in the next 3 years, and likely has already begun to reveal itself. because these are slow-moving outer planets, anytime a faster-moving personal planet (sun, moon, mercury, venus and mars) moves into one of the cardinal signs they will trigger the uranus/pluto square. with the solstice sun at 0 cancer we enter this new season with a radical activation and awareness of this dynamic astrology! the upcoming summer looks to be intense in more ways than one.
the ruler of the solstice sun is the moon (the moon rules cancer) and she is also in cancer. the cancer moon triggered the uranus/pluto square early this morning during dreamtime (3am-ish) and triggers saturn in libra tomorrow morning (thursday around 7am). pay close attention to your dream material from last night, if you can remember it, as insights into what the upcoming changes and transformation are going to ask of you can be revealed. between this morning and tomorrow morning the emotional energy is intense but also constricted and or depressed due to saturn’s energy. another important aspect is mercury, also in cancer, exactly square to saturn, exact at 9am (the time i am writing this blog). mercury square saturn brings up important and serious communication and thinking- the kind that is not fun, even depressing, but also necessary. our minds are noticing everything that is WRONG right now. this can be good if we take note and start making the appropriate changes, but if we stay stuck in our pessimism it will only serve to depress us and disconnect us from those around us. again, pay close attention to what communications or thoughts are up for you this morning and see what transformation, evolution or change is being asked for.
the solstice exact later today is the doorway into the next season (summer in the north, winter in the south) and with the first uranus/pluto square exact this sunday the 24th and the cancer sun following to trigger the uranus/pluto square on friday the 29th we are entering a very potent, powerful and INTENSE season of revolution, change, endings and new beginnings! the recent eclipse portal was only the opening act. there is a lot going on in the world out there- on the surface and more importantly below the surface. but it can be overwhelming to focus on all that has to change out there. i suggested focusing inward and seeing what needs to change inside- in our spiritual/emotional/psychological selves as well as in the circumstances and relationships in our lives. this can also be overwhelming if we choose to view our inner/personal reality from a victim-stance. but if we can look closely and get clear on what our path of Self-mastery entails and start making those changes one step at a time- we can find the method in the madness and clarity in the chaos- and we will be much better off as the changes and transformations unfold in the coming years.
