this is the lunar insight i wrote on the new moon- exact tomorrow morning. this is typically members-only content but considering how potent this new moon and the fact that it is the official kick off to the astrological new year i wanted to publish it on the astrology blog.

new moon in aries- 3/22/2012
i am writing this lunar insight in the last hours of the dark moon in pisces as the moon is void and making its way to the aries point. the new moon tomorrow morning (thursday 3/22) is exact at 7:37am PDT and is quite the dynamic new moon! a new moon occurs when the sun and moon cojoin- and at this new moon they do so at 2’22 aries. i don’t know about you but i have been seeing A LOT of numbers like 11:11, 12:12, 4:44, etc… i see at least half a dozen of them each day. this is meaningful- it’s not a coincidence. this new moon a 2’22 aries starts a new moon cycle and officially kicks of the astrological new year. yes spring began on monday 3/19 but it is not until the new moon that it really gets into gear. what is seeded or intended at this time may take the entire moon cycle to come to fruition due to mercury being retrograde in the same sign of aries and mars, the ruler of aries, also being retrograde- but it is very key to get clear on what we are manifesting right now as this new moon is potent and powerful.
what makes this new moon so significant is it’s configuration with the uranus/pluto square. the new moon is conjunct uranus and square to pluto- bringing the radical change and transformation energies into stark focus. what the uranus/pluto square is asking of us personally, collectively and Universally will be very clear at this new moon- so pay attention. on saturday 3/24 and thursday 3/29 the sun will make his precise aspects with uranus and pluto respectively, so take note of events that follow this new moon. they will be dramatic, dynamic and powerful! the key mantra of uranus square pluto is breakdowns precede breakthroughs. so whatever areas of life that have gotten out of balance/integrity/alignment are likely going to be up BIG TIME right now. this new moon wants to help us clear out the crap from the past- but we have to let go in order to do this. the degree to which we hang onto the old, outdated situations/relationships/attitudes/paradigms of our lives is the degree to which this new moon, and really the entire uranus/pluto square transit that lasts until 2015 will be for us. take note.
with the new moon conjunct retrograde mercury in aries we are just past the midpoint of the current mercury retrograde cycle (the exact midpoint was wednesday 3/21). this sun/moon conjunction often brings thing to Light about what the mercury retrograde journey is about for us personally. important insights, communications, aha moments and messages coming from beyond can arrive- but we must stay open to receiving them. the mercury retrograde cycle coincides with a triple conjunction the uranus- showing that the insights and messages coming are radical, revolutionary and perhaps the last thing we expected!
luckily there are some nice flowing aspects to the new moon- namely a semisextile to neptune and chiron in pisces, adding a spiritually healing energy to the lunation cycle. if we can find a way to bridge the aries and pisces, the masculine and the feminine, alpha and omega, assertiveness with surrender- then we can make the most of this firey new moon with spiritual undertones. the new moon is also trine the north noe in sagittarius- which is conjunct juno, the asteroid goddess of partnership. a huge area of new beginnings, or endings that precede new beginnings, is likely to play out in committed relationships and partnerships of all kinds. new energy, new life and/or a clean sweep of the past is available to us all- we just have to embrace it.
and last but not least, the ruler of this lunation is mars and yes he is still retrograde (until 4/13) so a lot of our willful energy, desire to take action, assertiveness and anger is being constricted/repressed/held back in some way. he is also opposite chiron, bringing up all our wounds around the masculine within and without- and he is in tense aspect to uranus which can feel like a fire under our butts. yet this is not the time to jump to conclusions or make rash decisions! this is a time of getting clear on the inner levels as to what needs to change so that when energy starts flowing again we have the courage, tenacity and integrity to make the changes we know we need to make. mars is still involved in his grand trine with jupiter and pluto- so the powerful opportunities for transformation, grounding and manifestation are still very much present right now. uranus/pluto is activating but the grand earth trine is soothing and incredibly focused on the long term rather than the short term. i suggest you tune into the earth energy to get you through the fire.
