hello friends :) i am back from my travels! i immersed myself in the Goddess mysteries in the south of france (while venus/the Goddess transited the face of the sun!) and i taught my first two workshops at esalen last week. what an amazing past month it’s been!
i am back home now and will resume my regular writing and consultation schedule. if you have emailed me in the last 3 weeks i will get back to you by tomorrow.

LUNAR INSIGHT
new moon in gemini- 6/19/2012 at 8:02am PDT
as i write this we are in the dark of the moon in gemini. the new moon that is exact tomorrow, tuesday june 19th at 8:02am PDT is the second new moon in gemini this year. the first new moon in gemini occurred on may 20th at the time of the solar eclipse. that first gemini moon was at the first degree of gemini and the second one is at the last degree of gemini. there is a bookend kind of energy going on right now which spans the entire sign of gemini, and activates the house(s) that gemini falls in your natal chart.
new moons are times of initiation and new beginnings and dark moons are times of ending, releasing and dying to make room for the new. with two new moons AND a dark moon in gemini we have a lot rebirth/new beginnings for sure, but we also have a lot of things come to an end, finding closure or completion- there is a distinct sense that some aspect of life is finally needing to fully move on. add to that the fact that the karmic south node has been transiting gemini for the last 15 or so months and venus is retrograde in gemini and we have a potent picture of karmic consequences for past actions (or lack thereof) and dealing with/clearing out old relationships/financial matters that are finally ready to be completed at this time. this is potent stuff!!! and all of this happens during the week that the first uranus/pluto square is exact- fasten your seatbelts people!!!
in the new moon chart we have the sun and moon conjunct at 28’43 gemini. we are starting a new cycle in relationship to our minds, thinking, and communication. yet the dark moon also has us processing karma and shadow around the gemini energy: restlessness, ungroundedness, immaturity, irresponsibility, and superficiality. this new moon is conjunct two powerful fixed stars- polaris and betelgeuse. polaris points to loss and is considered unfortunate but it also has connection to spiritual powers. betelgeuse has a similar dual nature- it can bring great fortune or fame but it also is associated with violence and danger. with both of these potent fixed stars aligned with this new moon we have an image of positive and negative potential seeded within the new moon, it all depends on how we work with the energy.
one of the most significant aspects this new moon makes is a square to mars- another indicator of violence, aggression and irritation. mars is the planet of will, drive and anger. he is known as the warrior planet. with the new moon square mars there can be a fiesty energy in the atmosphere. this can be dynamic, exciting and directive or it can be activating, impulsive, frustrating and aggressive. the new moon is also widely opposite pluto, pointing towards another intense, underworldly energy that can express itself as power/control dynamics OR as transformational and empowering (again, it’s all about how we work with the energy and what is being activated in our individual charts).
the more flowing aspects to this lunation include a trine from saturn in libra which is earthy, grounding, responsible and long-term focused. this is a wonderful aspect that confers the ability to really ground down and lay a solid foundation upon which we can build long into the future. yet we need to get really clear on what we are initiating as saturn can also make the consequences of actions taken be felt far into the future. this new moon is also trine neptune (out of sign) bringing a spiritual, mystical undertone to the moon cycle we are entering. this is like the balm for the Soul in the midst of all the intense astrology right now. tapping into the Unconscious, getting lost in music, creating some art or just being in the space of Love is highly recommended this week. little escapes here and there can help balance out the intensity that is only going to build from here on out (through 2012 but also beyond).
what makes this lunation even more intense is that the ruler of the gemini new moon is mercury, who is in cancer and just came out of his activation of the uranus/pluto square last week (monday the 11th) and is now moving into a square to saturn (exact wednesday the 20th). mercury square saturn can be experienced as limiting, constricting, constrained and depressing. it is a time of assessing reality and dealing with it. serious conversations about things we don’t want to deal with or talk about are likely up for us this week. with the new moon in gemini we can initiate a new part of the conversation but we HAVE to assess the past, pay the karmic consequences and really show up to do the work. this is not a silver spoon in the mouth kind of new moon. it’s a new start that is built on an old start that has gone up in flames. like the phoenix, we are rising out of our own ashes- some of which were created by the fires we started in our own lives!
the potential for birth/rebirth right now is POTENT, but it necessitates a death of some kind. some aspect of our past is up for review and release. if we can attend to the endings in our lives with integrity, maturity and self-mastery we will be letting the Universe know that we are ready to step up and grow. it’s all a choice and with the first uranus/pluto square coming up this sunday initiating us into a 3 year window of radical revolution and change- it would serve us best to get on board with the changes and evolution sooner, rather than later ;)
